Course Content
The NEBOSH International Diploma in Environmental Management is based on UK legislation and is made up of two units which must be successfully completed within five years to achieve the NEBOSH Environmental Diploma qualification:

Entry Requirements
There are no specific barriers, in terms of academic qualifications, skills or experience for entry to the NEBOSH International Diploma in Environmental Management programme.
Both parts of the assessments must be answered in English.
The assignment part of the assessment requires research into environmental issues in the candidate’s workplace and the completion of a report to top management.

Assessment Details
Unit ED1 of the NEBOSH Environmental Diploma is assessed by a three hour paper-based invigilated exam. Unit ED1 Exams are held in January and July each year.
Exams can be sat at one of RRC's UK exam centres or in one of our network of 190+ exam centres throughout the world.

How long does the Environmental Diploma take to complete?The Classroom and Live Online courses are delivered over 3 weeks (15 days). The course dates are scheduled to align best with upcoming exam sittings, ensuring you have the best chance of success with your assessment while still giving you time to study.
The Online course takes around 190 hours of study time (on average 6-12 months). Once you are ready to book your assessment, please contact the Exams Team, who will be happy to help you.
How long does the exam take for Unit ED1?The Unit ED1 exam is three-hours long and must be taken in person with an examiner present.Â
The Unit IDEM assignment is a work-based assignment that you can complete in your workplace. This is submitted to NEBOSH for marking.
Can I try the NEBOSH Environmental Diploma Online course before I buy it?Yes, you can sign up for a free e-learning trial here. This will give you access to a section of the Online course so that you can get an experience of the RRC course materials and Learning Centre platform and decide if the Online option is the right choice for you.The free trial gives you 30 days of access from the day of sign-up.What does Gold Learning Partner mean?RRC are delighted to have been evaluated as a NEBOSH Gold Learning Partner, the highest level in the NEBOSH Learning Partner programme.

What is the difference between Online, Live Online, e-Learning and Distance Learning?Live Online is delivered in real time through Zoom and is very similar to a classroom course. The tutor will deliver the course with breaks to allow time for group work, exercises, and private study.
Online & elearning are just different words for the same thing, and mean a flexible, self study course delivery with tutor support that can be accessed via email. Distance Learning, means learning at a distance but is commonly used to describe the more traditional paper based study, RRC do provide the complete study text which you can download and study off line thus giving you the option of how you study the course
What is the difference between the National and International Environmental Diploma?The National Diploma is based on UK legislation and is recognised worldwide. The International Diploma is based on International Standards and Best Practice and is recognised by employers outside of the UK.
If you are planning to work in the UK, or might want to work in the UK in the future, we would highly recommend you complete the NEBOSH National Environmental Diploma. This will provide you with the specific knowledge of UK legislation, while still covering the International Standards and Best practice needed to work outside of the UK.
If you have no intention of working in the UK, we would recommend you complete the NEBOSH National Environmental Diploma, which does not include any UK-specific content.

Will I receive a different certificate if I study Online?No, no matter what learning method you choose for your studies, you will receive the same Certificates when you complete a unit or the full qualification.
What education level is the NEBOSH International Environmental Diploma?The NEBOSH Environmental Diploma is the equivalent of a level 6 qualifications (EQF), which is equivalent to a university undergraduate honours degree.
What happens if I fail one of my NEBOSH Environmental Diploma exams?If you do not pass your exams on your first attempt, don't worry. You can book a re-sit with our Exams team. There is no limit to the number of times you can resit an assessment, as long as you are within your tuition period.Please note you will need to pay the NEBOSH assessment fee again along with a small RRC administration fee.

Can I attend the NEBOSH graduation ceremony when I complete my NEBOSH Environmental Diploma?Yes, all students who complete the NEBOSH National Diploma in Environmental Management are invited to attend the Graduation Ceremony. The NEBOSH Graduation is normally held in September at Warwick University.

Can I complete my Environmental Diploma exam online?No, the ED1 exam must be completed at an approved centre with an examiner present. Locations are arranged with our exams team before the exam date. To discuss available locations, please contact our Exams Team who will be happy to provide more information.The NDEM assignment is work-based, and can be completed at your workplace before submitting to NEBOSH.Is the NEBOSH Environmental Diploma exam an Open Book Exam?No, the ED1 exam is closed book. This means you cannot take any learning materials into the exam with you.How long does it take to receive my certificate once I have sat the exam?The results for the NEBOSH Environmental Diploma are released around 10 weeks after the exam date. Once the results have been declared, your certificate will be dispatched within 6-8 weeks.
For UK-based learners, you will receive your certificate from NEBOSH directly.
For non-UK learners, you certificate will first be sent to the RRC UK offices. Once we have received your certificate, we will be in touch to confirm your address and send out your certificate to you.
If you need to update you address at any point, you can either contact the Customer Services Team, or contact NEBOSH directly.
Are there past papers available for the NEBOSH Environmental Diploma?Yes, you can access a past paper and examiners feedback on expected answers from the NEBOSH website. Course providers are not allowed to sell/give past papers to learners.
Do I have to pay VAT if I am based outside of the UK?In most cases, yes, you will need to pay VAT if you buy your course directly through RRC's UK offices. However, we work with a network of Partners around the world. If there is an RRC partner in your country, you will be able to buy the Online course through them at local tax rates and in local currency.
