About NEBOSH
NEBOSH (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health) is a UK based Awarding Body regualted by the SQA that provides a range of globally-recognised, vocationally-related qualifications designed to meet the health, safety, environmental and risk management needs of all work places.
As an awarding body NEBOSH consult widely with industry, governments, regulators and practitioners to develop a framework of qualifications that meet their stakeholder’s needs. NEBOSH do not deliver the training but set clear guidance as to what should be taught and then set the exam papers and mark the examinations, ensuring fairness and consistency in those achieving NEBOSH qualifications.
Course Providers and Recognition
NEBOSH Learning Partners, such as RRC are accredited by NEBOSH to deliver their qualifications and are then subject to close monitoring by NEBOSH to ensure good quality training and administration. Course providers are recognised at different levels, Gold, Silver and Bronze, with Gold providers, such as RRC significantly exceed the minimum standards expected by NEBOSH, with Bronze meeting the minimum standards expected.
NEBOSH Qualifications are recognised by employers throughout the world and along with professional membership bodies including the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM) and the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM).
NEBOSH Quality in Examinations
NEBOSH’s technical standards are overseen by a Qualification and Technical Council with representatives drawn from UK institutions and are approved by the SQA, which has a UK wide regulatory remit. NEBOSH examinations and assessments are set by its professionally qualified staff assisted by external examiners, most of who are Chartered Safety and Health Practitioners operating within industry, the public sector or in enforcement.
