Course Content
The NEBOSH HSE Certificate in Process Safety Management qualification consists of one Unit with four elements:
- Process Safety Management
- Management of Process Risk
- Process Safety Hazard Control
- Fire Protection and Emergency Response
Covering topics such as:
- Establishment of process management systems
- Asset management and maintenance strategies
- Safe start-up and shutdown of process plant
- Performance standards for safety critical systems and equipment
- Hazards and controls for:
- Chemical reactions
- Bulk storage of dangerous substances
- Fire and explosion
- Purpose and features of emergency plans

Entry Requirements
There are no entry requirements for this qualification, but’ it is recommended that learners should already have an underpinning knowledge of health and safety issues, and many will have gained another NEBOSH qualification, such as the NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.Â
It is also important that learners have a suitable standard of English language in order to understand and articulate the concepts contained in the syllabus.
NEBOSH recommends that learners undertaking this qualification should reach a minimum standard of English equivalent to an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 6.0 or higher in IELTS tests.
Learners wishing to assess their own language expertise may consult the IELTS website for information on taking the test. Your chosen Learning Partner may also be able to recommend a method of pre-learning assessment of language.Â

The NEBOSH HSE Certificate in Process Safety Management is assessed by a 90 minute exam consisting of 40 multiple-choice questions completed online.

Where can I sit my exam?
Exams are a multiple choice exam which is completed online. Exams are held every month.
How long does it take to complete the course?The classroom snd Live Online courses are 4 days plus the exam. The online course takes around 48 hours to complete with the average study duration 2-4 months.

How long are is the exam?The course is assessed by a 40 multiple-choice exam which is completed online. Learners have 24 hours from the exam release to complete the assessment.
Can I try the Online course before I buy it?Yes, you can sign up for a free e-learning trial here.What is the difference between Online, Live Online, e-Learning and Distance Learning?Live Online is delivered in real time through zoom and is very similar to a classroom course. The tutor will deliver the course with breaks to allow time for group work, exercises and private study.
Online & elearning are just different words for the same thing and mean a flexible self study course delivery with tutor support you can access via email. Distance Learning, means learning at a distance but is commonly used to describe the more traditional paper based study, RRC do provide the complete study text which you can download and study off line thus giving you the option of how you study the course.
Is the certificate I receive the same if I study Online as when I study in the Classroom?Yes, the Certificate is the exact same. You cannot tell the method of study from the Certificate.
What happens if I fail my assessment?If you do not pass your exams, you can book a re-sit with our exams team.Â
