For many of the qualifications we offer, you are eligible for professional recognition with a number of well-respected professional bodies and organisations. Below you can find details for professional recognition for the following awarding bodies.
NEBOSH qualifications are recognised by a number of professional bodies around the world. These include the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) in America, International Institute of Risk & Safety Management (IIRSM), the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals (BCRSP), the South African Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (SAIOSH).
NEBOSH have announced that the NEBOSH National Diploma and the NEBOSH International Diploma will be regulated by Ofqual from May 2023 and will take effect from the July 2023 Assessments. This will enable both UK and International based learners to once again apply for IOSH membership recognition.

Please note that all SQA regulated examinations/assessments must be undertaken in the UK and parchment must include the SQA logo as proof of regulatory accreditation. If the above SQA qualifications are assessed outside of the UK, they will not be eligible for the membership described.
NEBOSH are currently exploring solutions, however all are anticipated to take many months as applying for additional regulation is a very thorough process.
Learners who complete ALL units in the UK will get an SQA logo on their parchment. This means they can continue to use their qualification for membership applications as normal according to IOSH's rules at the time of application.
For Learners who have completed AT LEAST ONE unit overseas, they will not have an SQA logo on their parchment. However, they can still get IOSH membership provided:
If you have already enrolled on a Diploma qualification or registered for a Certificate qualification, then you will already be on NEBOSH’s systems prior to the August 2022 deadline. Please contact the customer service team if you would like to confirm this.
Diploma holders – you will already have a parchment and unit certificates. These documents are printed with your declaration date and provides evidence of your achievement date(s).
Current Diploma learners – you will automatically receive an email upon enrolment and can use this to evidence enrolment before the August 2022 deadline. Current National/International General Certificate learners - If you have already taken one or more assessments towards your qualification then you will already be registered within NEBOSH’s systems. If you require evidence of your registration date then you can use your Assessment Registration Confirmation or copy of your Unit Results Notification. If you have not yet taken an assessment then you may not yet be on NEBOSH’s systems. Please contact the customer service team to request registration before 22 August 2022. Once NEBOSH has received data from RRC and added you to their systems, they will send an email notifying you. This email can then be used as evidence and should be kept safe.
